Champ Car wins as F1 scores an own goal

As motorsport reels from the devastating blow dealt to it as a consequence of the shenanigans at Indianapolis, Champ Car organizers have thought of a way to turn F1's own goal to its advantage.

Organizers of this weekend's Champ Car race in Cleveland, have announced that race fans with ticket stubs from the ill-fated F1 Grand Prix will be given free admission.

Although ticket sales for the event are already up on 2004, race organizers felt they had to do something for the many thousands of race fans so shabbily treated at Indianapolis on Sunday.

As the furore continues, it seems that F1, at a time when it looked to be getting it right, has shot itself well and truly in the foot, and others, such as Champ Cars, IRL and the forthcoming A1 Grand Prix series are sure to use this to their advantage.
