Williams: BMW are crap, utter crap

No not really, but that's what some might have you believe

In much the same way that the 'situation' between Peter Sauber and Jacques Villeneuve has deteriorated in recent days, the partnership between BMW and WilliamsF1 also 'appears' to be heading for the 'divorce courts'.

In the run up to the Canadian Grand Prix a number of unflattering comments have appeared, emanating in the German media, and thence spreading globally, which indicate that WilliamsF1 is far from happy with its Bavarian partner.

However, though the comments are bona fide, it should be noted that these comments were not made this week. Frank Williams' comments to Bild were made two weeks ago at the Nurburgring, while Patrick Head's interview with Sport Auto Motor took place in Monaco.

Although it is known that BMW, under advisement from Mario Theissen, is looking at the possibility of purchasing Sauber, the partnership with WilliamsF1 has not suddenly deteriorated in the past week, even though the timing of these quotes might appear to be strategic.

No doubt the German media would dearly love to see a Deutsche Formula One Team, again.
