Peter Sauber has admitted that he hopes to conclude a deal with BMW, which will see the German manufacturer supply his team with engines, in the very near future, but rubbished talk of selling his team.

"I hope to be close to an agreement soon," he told Autosprint, "since it would be in the interest of both parties. Unfortunately we have not reached that point yet."

For some time there has been talk of BMW buying the Swiss outfit, with some F1 insiders convinced that having grown 'tired' of the partnership with WilliamsF1, BMW Motorsport boss, Mario Theissen, is finding the prospect of being a team principal more and more appealing.

Talking of the rumour that links BMW with a buy-out of his team, Sauber said: "It's all speculation, and I am not going to comment on the rumours."
