Jacques Villeneuve has admitted that it is Sauber's lack of money that is costing the team on track progress.

Speaking on his own website, the Canadian said: "The infrastructure is there, we just need bigger budgets. We have a lack of resources.

"We have a great wind tunnel," he continued, "but we don't spend enough time in it. We can't design new suspension to try just for the sake of them. You have the car for the whole year and you don't test much.

"I've always been in teams where budget was not a problem," he added, referring to WilliamsF1 and BAR, "where we could get the parts we wanted and if we had an idea we could just try it. It's a bit of a different approach but the team makes an amazing use of the budget it has

"With this amount of budget other teams would do less," he continued, "it is very efficient but it would be good to keep this level of efficiency with more money.

"I've never worked with a team with this level of resources compared to the others," he admitted, "even in Formula Three. Of course it takes getting used to because if one area is a problem, it will be harder to fix it."
