WilliamsF1 star Nick Heidfeld has had to end his Paul Ricard test early after hurting his back muscles on the second day of testing at the French circuit.
The German returned to the pits this morning, following a long run, complaining of back pain, set off when he corrected the car at the first corner. After an examination by a specialist he was sent home to recover ahead of next week's San Marino Grand Prix.
Heidfeld's 'injury' comes a week after Mark Webber pulled out of the team's Barcelona test, when a rib injury he had been nursing for some time flared up.
Luckily for the Grove outfit, the test was due to conclude today anyway.
