Testing stops for the Pope, and the rain

The teams testing at Barcelona today paid their own unique tribute to the Pope, whose funeral service was taking place simultaneously in Rome.

The six teams on duty stopped all activity for ten minutes as a mark of respect for the Pontiff, in addition to a one-minute silence organized by the Circuit de Catalunya.

Shortly after the on-track activity resumed however, the heavens opened and down came the rain.

Having predicted rain for today, Renault moved its test forward one day and began its programme on Tuesday, in order not to 'waste' one of its 30 test days waiting around for a break in the weather. Toyota, which was scheduled to test here today, has also packed up and left early.
