Up until now, Juan Pablo Montoya, unlike his former teammate Ralf Schumacher, has maintained a dignified silence with regards his former team, and refused to take pot shots at them.

Now, on the eve of his first race weekend with his new employers, the Colombian has hit out at the Grove outfit, and in particular team boss Frank Williams' comments about his weight.

"I don't know what they wanted. I was winning races," said Montoya, according to the BBC. "He just complained I was overweight and unfit and just whinged about it.

"Frank always complained that I was overweight," he continued. "When I got into Formula One everyone said I was fat. I weighed less then than I do now.

"It's pretty demotivating," added the Colombian, who famously celebrated his Brazil GP win by visiting a local McDonalds. "I thought I was working pretty hard... and someone goes and says that.

"At BMW Williams they expect you to get the things done," he continued, "here at Mercedes and McLaren they give you the tools to do the things. It makes a big difference for the driver, the driver is a lot more appreciated."
