Contacted by Pitpass, in response to claims that Minardi could be barred from the forthcoming Australian Grand Prix because Ferrari had not given consent to its fellow Italian team to use a 2004 car, spokesman Luca Colajanni said: "There is nothing we can say".

It's understood that eight rival teams have given Minardi permission to use its 2004 car in the first three races. However, Max Mosley has said that the Italian team needs the approval of all nine of its rivals.

Talking to Pitpass, Mr Colajanni said: "The only body entitled to give a team the permission to use a car which does not comply the current technical regulations is the FIA."

This would imply that Ferrari feels it doesn't need to give its permission and that the matter rests solely with the FIA.
