NEWS STORY

Juan-Manuel Fangio is seen universally as one of the greatest drivers of all time, even small children seem to know about his historic drive in the 1957 German Grand Prix.

At the same time this quiet and unassuming man never seemed to shine in sports cars. But to say that is to overlook such drives as we see in this photograph.

This is the 1953 Mille Miglia where Fangio was entered in an Alfa Romeo 3000 CM.

We see him here finishing the event in second place having driven most of the last half of the route with only one front wheel steering.

Think of it, narrow crowned roads, over 800 other competitors, most of which had to be passed and one front wheel with a mind of it's own.
