Although sections of the media are pointing out that the future of the British GP at Silverstone is assured, following today's meeting of the nine team bosses and Bernie Ecclestone, this comes as news to Silverstone's owners, the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC).

Despite widespread claims that it is Ferrari that is standing in the way of progress, the BRDC has tonight confirmed that it has heard no news from Formula One Management (FOM).

"The BRDC have not yet been officially informed of any proposal by FOM," read an official statement, issued at 17:19 (9 November), "but if there is a new proposal to safeguard the British Grand Prix in 2005 which makes financial sense for the sport, the industry, the Club and especially the local economy, it will be seriously considered by the Board of the BRDC."
