It's understood that following this weekend's Brazilian GP, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone will head to Mexico to sign the relevant contracts that will see the country host its first race since 1992.

Officials have already signed a tentative agreement with Ecclestone, but this is on the provision that a brand new $80m facility is built in time for the 2006 race - which is scheduled for October.

Sadly, early reports suggest that the current blueprints for the track - which is not designed by Hermann Tilke - are not entirely encouraging. The track is described as "flat", "uninspiring" and "unchallenging". And Hermann Tilke is not involved?

It's understood that a special press conference is scheduled for Monday.
