Despite the ubiquitous 'to be confirmed' against the date for the 2005 United States GP, officials at the track are adamant that the race will go ahead on June 19, one week after the Canadian event.

"While it surprised us, it doesn't concern us," Speedway spokesman Ron Green told the Indianapolis Star. "The only two people who have to agree on a date, Tony George and Bernie Ecclestone, have agreed on June 19."

The United States GP is one of the events for which the date has yet to be confirmed, the others being the Grands Prix of Europe and China. This is in addition to the provisional status of the British, French and San Marino races.

"We're not sure why it was listed as 'to be confirmed' and we won't speculate why," added Green. "Tony George and Bernie Ecclestone have agreed on a date and that's the way we're proceeding."

Meanwhile, we hear talk that next year's European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring could be a surprise 'victim'.
