A1 founder and CEO, Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, is in action in Dubai today, competing in round ten of the 2004 FIA GT Championship.

Sheikh Maktoum, a member of Dubai's royal family, is driving the Scuderia Veregro Chrysler Viper GTS with Anthony Beltoise, son of F1 legend Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Indian rising-star Narain Karthikeyan.

Talking to Pitpass, Sheikh Maktoum complained of a lack of grunt, but felt confident that a good finish is possible.

There were problems in the first qualifying session, but in the second session the Viper trio managed eighteenth on the grid.

The event, which gets underway at 15:00 (local time) today, is being held at the 5.39 km Dubai Autodrome, the first time that the GT Championship has left Europe.
