The A1 Grand Prix prototype, which was unveiled at the launch in Dubai on March 30th, will be displayed at the Farnborough International Air Show (July 19th-25th) alongside some of the world's fastest machines. Thanks to an initiative between the MIA and the Society of British Aerospace Companies, A1 Grand Prix will be part of a historic event as this is the first time motorsport will be represented at the show. The show's 300,000 expected attendees will be able to see the car and review literature on the series in the A1 Grand Prix stand located in the MIA Motorsport Pavilion.

"It is a period of major landmarks for the series as we now have the final design for the car, and our executive team members, who have been travelling the globe negotiating with franchise holders, are now in advanced stages of negotiations with over 24 of them" said A1 Grand Prix CEO and founder, Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum.

Since the launch of the project, the work behind the scenes has been fast and furious. A1 Grand Prix will announce its first 6 franchise holders in September.

After extensive wind tunnel trials and a comprehensive research & development programme, the A1GP car design has been finalised. The first A1GP car with aerodynamic updates will be ready to begin an exhaustive month of testing on July 30th, the end result being the series' first 'Production' car.

The test programme will be held 'behind closed doors' during the month of August with the first 'Production' car scheduled to be unveiled by the end of September. The test programme will start in the UK and later move to race circuits in warmer European climates to implement hot weather testing. There will be several test drivers, including the General Manager of A1 Grand Prix, businessman and former Formula 1 test driver, Stephen Watson, who will swap his business suit for a racing suit for a few days. This carries on the tradition of the A1 Grand Prix 'hands on approach' with members of the Executive Board involved at all levels so no details are overlooked.
