Who Goes Where 2019

NEWS STORY
26/11/2018

Tonight's news that Alexander Albon is to partner Daniil Kvyat at Toro Rosso, effectively completes the 2019 grid.

Though Lance Stroll has yet to be officially confirmed at Racing Point Force India, he is driving the car on Tuesday afternoon in Abu Dhabi and all day on Wednesday, which is either some sort of devious red herring or else he would have to do something pretty dumb for his father to drop him.

Consequently, as we await the official "announce" from Racing Point Force India, this is how the 2019 grid looks at present.

All that remains is for someone to 'do a Rosberg' and turn the whole thing on its head…

"Ferrari needs a 1st and 2nd driver. 2 first drivers are not their routine. It was too close with Kimi and Vettel and Sauber is in need of a senior driver if they really want to build Alfa Romeo brand (which is clearly something they've wanted to do for several years now).

Stroll, will be interesting to see how he is in a pretty competitive car. Force India was in the points every race. His dad will only put up with so much if Lance proves not to be up to the task. I hope he step out of his family's fortune image and make a name for himself.

I feel it was a mistake for Ricciardo to move to Renault, but will be interesting next season."

"Surely Seb has got the messsge that Ferrari have given up on him and moved on? He is still there only to see out his Contract and garner points. 2019 will be interesting.
Leclerc is the future. "

"Second time the Editor has mooted the possibility of Seb doing a Nico…..
Reading between the lines here, this will leave a massive vacuum to fill.

Poor old Liberty, what must they be thinking.

F. Alonso (50 points 2018 so far ) (311 F1 starts)
E. Ocon (49) (49)
S. Vandoorne (12) (40)
M. Ericsson (9) (96)
S. Sirotkin (1) (20)
and most likely B. Hartley (4) (24)"

"It is clear to see that both Williams is just waiting to keep the 2 last seats and sell them for as much money as they can, no matter the drivers talents or lack of it. Fair enough. They need to survive. Force Stroll has of course one driver confirmed and will be looking for a water boy for the 2nd car. Money is not the issue there.

"I'm thinking now that it could be wise for Perez to go to Williams with his cash / talent and Ocon to stay at Force Canada as that team may have enough funds already.
The deals Merc do with their PUs will also be important here (take Ocon and you get a discount).
Williams are keen to stay independent and buy their motors however, money talks and Williams need cash too.
Cash I suspect is why Ericsson will stay at Sauber, not that he is a bad steerer, just that there are better drivers out there. Then again, it will be interesting to see if Ericsson can lift his game with Kimi sat next to him or get crushed as in Vandoorne this year.
That will leave Kubica without a drive unless he deposes Hartley or takes the other Toro Rosso seat alongside Hartley. Then there is Zak's family (Vandoorne) to consider who actually looks good as a free agent compared to Ocon who is stuck with Merc.
I don't know why Raikonnen is at Sauber and who is paying him to be there.
Who would have thought that being on the books of Merc would be a disadvantage?
We'll all know who goes where once the music stops."

"Sorry imejl99 the emoji idea won't work very well.

I can't find an emoji of a man bending over with his pants down and talking out of his rear end to represent Zak talking.

Pleased Kimi is staying around, love his no-BS personality. At least he *has* a personality..."

"I hope you are wrong about Kimi Raikonnen, Kkiirmki - he is still an F1 superstar.
Despite Mr. Balfe thinking I am nuts from my previous post about Kimi and Williams, I really believe he should go there as the leader, with a post-retirement career in senior/shareholder management at Williams group.: a proper racer with a proper team with brilliant DNA which would come right with him before the expiry of the existing rules in 2 years' time.
So, come on Frank and Claire, and Kimi - do a deal and forge a new future."

"Kimi won't be toiling away in the midfield. If he isn't in the second Ferrari, he won't be in F1. Personally, I'd like to see him give IndyCar a go; having both: Alonso and Kimi would be a huge. "

"Kvayt back to Toro Rosso? Stranger things have happened...
Is Vandoorne so broken that he isn't to go anywhere else?
Maybe, being let go at McLaren could cause him to relax and just "crush it" compared to Alonso, turning a bad situation into a motivational one.
Or it could completely turn to custard... mind you, I kind of like custard."
