Christian Horner has confirmed that his team has secured an engine deal for 2016.

After months of speculation, ahead of this morning's opening session in Abu Dhabi, Horner confirmed to reporters that a deal has been agreed, though he was unable (unwilling) to give further details.

"We have an agreement for an engine for next year which we hope will be confirmed within the coming days," said Horner. "We've signed the contract, but I can't tell you what it'll be or called at the moment.

"It will have a development path, ironically of what we were trying to achieve 12 months ago," he added, suggesting that the engine will indeed be the Renault unit with improvements suggested by Mario Illien earlier this year.

"We need to use all the energy and resources that we have available," he insisted, before hinting that, despite the endless criticism of the French manufacturer, Renault remains the only option. "I am absolutely not precious about where the solution is coming from, what I want is the solution. Full-stop. There is a clear willingness to find a solution as quickly as possible.

"It's an engine that will hopefully improve during the course of the year," he concluded, "it's going to be a tough start to the season but we're confident we'll make strides."
