Lotus technical director Nick Chester has revealed that the team's 2015 contender is unlikely to complete any meaningful laps until Tuesday.

Though Pastor Maldonado was scheduled to drive today, before handing over to Romain Grosjean, the E23 was a no-show. Whilst everything else was in place, transporter, equipment, mechanics, the car was still back at the team's Enstone HQ.

Mid-morning the team revealed that the car was on its way, having been flown out; the E23 finally arriving just as the first day of testing came to a close.

"We have been pursuing a very tight and aggressive build programme with the E23 which is one of the most technically advanced cars to have come out of Enstone," admitted Chester. "We will take to the track with this car as soon as we are ready from an engineering perspective.

"We've fired-up the car at Enstone and we're now putting everything together ahead of the first laps on track," he added. "Everyone at Enstone is very positive with what we've seen of the E23 Hybrid so far and we're looking forward to it turning its wheels in anger for the first time later this week."
