A busy (and prosperous) weekend in Singapore

NEWS STORY

It might have needed the Safety Car to liven things up on track in Singapore, but plenty was going on behind the scenes.

The weekend kicked off with the news that Johnnie Walker has become the Official Whisky of Formula 1, the announcement being made at a special event at the Conrad Centennial Hotel in Singapore by Nick Blazquez, President of Diageo in Africa and Asia.

Mr Blazquez said Johnnie Walker, as a pioneering whisky brand with a progressive spirit, is the perfect whisky to partner with the world’s most progressive and technologically-advanced sport.

This exciting news was followed by the announcement that "continuing on its journey of Celebrating F1rsts, the official champagne of Formula 1®G.H.MUMM" had launched "its first collection dedicated to the night".

Indeed, "The No. 1 collection was launched during the Singapore Grand Prix, the only Formula 1® race to take place at night" we were reliably informed.

The three cuvee collection, Gold, Black and Rose, inspired by the passion of Formula 1®, convey the feelings derived from the celebration of being No. 1. Designed for the night the champagne compliments the unparalleled emotion of victory, perfect to toast and to share the joy of being No. 1.

"The power of Pinot Noir contrasts with the fruitiness of Meunier and the freshness of Chardonnay, creating a wine which is dry yet sweeter so that the champagne can be enjoyed all night long. The Gold and Black blends are dominated by Meunier, a highly aromatic grape variety valued for its fruitiness and completed with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Rose blend is dominated by Pinot Noir and is rounded off by the fruitiness of Meunier to reveal the full subtlety and elegance of Chardonnay," the press release revealed.

"We have taken the ultimate feelings of passion, adrenaline, and victory and created a champagne collection which symbolises this shared energy between both Formula 1® andG.H.MUMM," said G.H.MUMM Global Brand Director Louis de Fautereau.

But there was more to come.

This morning we were informed: "'Dynamic', 'exciting', 'atmospheric'; words often used to describe the F1 night race in Singapore. Perfectly matching and complementing the ambience is the newly launched Oud Amber Intense by Fragrance Du Bois, the official perfume for the iconic Amber Lounge after-party in Singapore.

"Reflecting the energy, passion and glamour that have become synonymous with the race itself, Oud Amber Intense is a specially created fragrance for Sonia Irvine (pictured), the Founder of the Amber Lounge. Developed by internationally recognised perfumer, Sandra Dziad, and based on the creative vision, personal tastes and entrepreneurial spirit of Sonia Irvine, Oud Amber Intense has a spicy citrusy opening, with notes of bergamot, tangerine, black pepper and cinnamon. It is a fragrance that exudes confidence and sophistication."

"I absolutely love Oud Amber Intense by Fragrance Du Bois," said Sonia Irvine. "Not least because it is a fully bespoke creation based on my preferences and vision, but also because it is unique, complex, and at the same time invigorating and fun. It's a wonderful reflection of what I have created the Amber Lounge to be. I am especially pleased to have Oud Amber Intense as the official fragrance for the Amber Lounge at this year's Singapore F1 night race, and to be launching it at Fragrance Du Bois' first concept boutique at the Fullerton Hotel."

All this, the sport listening to our demand for a curb on radio communications and the championship down to just three points... we F1® fans are spoiled... truly spoiled.
