Pastor Maldonado has been excluded from today's qualifying session after being unable to supply a fuel sample.

The Venezuelan, who qualified 15th, but would have benefitted from the penalties handed to Esteban Gutierrez and Max Chilton, was unable to provide a 1.0 litre fuel sample following today's session, a breach of Article 6.6.2 of the FIA Formula One Technical Regulations.

However, the Venezuelan is allowed to start the race from the back of the grid in front of the Caterhams which both failed to set a time within 107% of the fastest time in Q1.

On the other hand, the Lotus driver was not punished after he was alleged to have impeded Sergio Perez in Turns 16 to 18. However, having heard from the drivers and reviewed the video evidence, and in view of the conditions, the Stewards determined that Maldonado took all reasonable action.
