WTF says Lewis

Lewis Hamilton reacts to media claim that he has made his "pop debut".

On Friday, that bastion of truth, integrity and investigative journalism, the Daily Mail, reported that Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton had made his "debut vocal release", the 2008 world champion apparently "guesting on a track by singer Ana Lou called Say Goodbye".

"While the moody ballad is perhaps not as epic and grand as the charts might demand, it nonetheless demonstrates Lewis has the vocal chops, not to mention the music connections through Nicole Schzeringer, to take this much further if he so desires," claimed the article.

Helpfully, the article contained a link to the song - though this has now been removed - the link boasting the headline... "Voice of an F1 angel.. .Lewis Hamilton guest vocalist on love song".

At a time when genuine news is hard to come by, leaving some to rely on quotes obtained long before the holidays and others electing to temporarily shut up shop, the usual suspects were quick to seize on the Daily Mail's 'scoop' and in some case embellish it.

Suspicion first arose when the original link to the Mail's story led to a dead end, but a little bit of investigation soon led to a fresh URL.

However, this morning Lewis Hamilton took to Twitter (not for the first time) to totally rubbish the report.

"Hey all," he tweeted "Have just heard that someone has put a song out saying it's me... LMAO I've never met this girl Ana nor heard of her #WTF"

Not for nothing is the tawdry, celebrity obsessed, 'newspaper', widely referred to as the Daily Fail.

WTF indeed, Lewis!
