Suzi Perry has been named as the new presenter for the BBC's Formula 1 coverage.

A hugely accomplished presenter with an impressive pedigree in motorsport, Perry presented the BBC's MotoGP coverage for 10 years and is a regular reporter across the sport portfolio.

Since 2003 she has also presented The Gadget Show on Channel 5, plus co-presented numerous other television programmes across entertainment, technology and travel.

"We're delighted to welcome Suzi to the team," said Ben Gallop, BBC Head of F1. "She'll bring real energy and years of experience to one of the biggest jobs in sports broadcasting. Her presenting ability coupled with her love and knowledge of motorsport make her an excellent addition to our line up. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Jake Humphrey for his enormous contribution to the coverage over the last four years and we all wish him the best for the future."

"Motorsport is my life and I've really missed being away from the grid," added Perry. "I am so excited to be joining the BBC. Working alongside such an eminent team and the F1 world is a huge honour and I can't wait to get started."

Full details of the BBC presentation line up for 2013 will be confirmed in due course.

The BBC also today confirmed that it will show the following Grands Prix live on television in 2013:

China, Spain, Canada, Britain, TBA, Belgium, Italy, Japan, India and Brazil, meaning that Monaco, widely considered one of the sport's jewels, will be available live only on Sky.

In addition to those races live on TV, there will be extended highlights coverage of the remaining ten races. All 20 races will be live on BBC Radio 5 live or 5 live sports extra.

The division of live and non-live races is reached through a negotiation process with fellow broadcaster Sky, it is not simply a case of the BBC picking a list of races to show live.

Preferred picks are based on a wide variety of factors with the BBC aiming to put together a strong cross-section of the season that delivers for audiences, with those not shown live on TV strongly complemented by extended TV highlights, live radio and online coverage.
