Chelsea chief executive reveals that Sauber and the football club are on the verge of announcing a joint sponsor as the London team seeks to capitalise on Formula One's global standing.

Since the partnership between the two was announced in April, there have been various tie-ups but nothing truly substantial. However, Chelsea chief executive, Ron Gourlay, suggests that this is all about to change as at least one business seeks to make use of the historic sporting partnership.

"The first commercial joint venture will be announced in two months' time," Gourlay told delegates at the International Football Arena in Zurich, though he refused to name the partner.

"You are going to see some results of the partnership very soon," he added. "We both want to be winners in our field and have the same values. Through our relationship with Sauber, we can go into 19 different markets in one season."
