Robert Kubica's determination to return to motor sport's top flight will see the Pole contest two rallies in the coming weeks.

The former BMW and Renault star, who was injured in a horrific life threatening (rally) crash last year, has contested a number of rallies this year as part of his recovery process.

Now, the popular Pole has revealed his intention to contest the Rally di Como in two weeks time and the Rallye du Var the week after in a Citroen, the events taking place in Italy and France respectively.

"I can't wait to drive a car that is quick and has been as successful as the C4 WRC," he said in a brief statement. "Rallying is one of my favourite forms of motorsport.

"After completing a test session so that I can get used to the car, competing in the Rally di Como will above all be an opportunity to get a feel for the car and learn more about driving it in racing conditions," he added.

"The objective will be different for the Rallye du Var. This will be the third time I have taken part, so it’s a rally with which I am already familiar and where I feel comfortable. And first and foremost I want to rack up as many miles as possible and improve in the category!"

The news comes the day after Kimi Raikkonen, who quit F1 and subsequently contested the WRC before returning to F1, won his first Grand Prix since his return, ironically for the team Kubica was due to contest the 2011 season.

Now, talking of fairytales…
