With all the focus in Jerez on the debuts of the new cars and drivers it was easy to miss USGP boss Tavo Hellmund who was doing what race promoters do and showing some executives around.

When questioned about who he was with, Hellmund coyly said: "You'll hopefully read about it in the next few months."

One of those accompanying Hellmund disclosed that he was with a multi-national beverage company which is seriously considering entering F1 and looking at starting with the USGP.

The race is due to take place in November at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin though the project has been blighted by a public dispute between Hellmund and his business partners. When asked how construction was coming along, he said "the track should be great…it better be, I spent many years on it in my mind."

Our man at the track pressed Hellmund on the situation with his business partners, billionaire Red McCombs and financier Bobby Epstein, and what they thought of the track he conceived. He replied "who knows, unfortunately since I don't think they have ever been to a Grand Prix (track) they don't have anything to compare it to - but I hope they'll love the one in Austin."

We won't have to wait long to find out.
