Credit where credit is due

Having given the BBC some stick for its coverage in the past it is only fair we give them credit when they get it right.

The new Martin Brundle/David Coulthard pairing faced its hardest test on Sunday when the race was red-flagged due to the weather and the two former drivers turned commentators found themselves having to keep fans entertained for almost two hours.

In such circumstances it could have gone disastrously wrong leading to viewers switching off or even causing the broadcaster (and those taking its feed) to temporarily switch transmission to an alternative programme or some F1 highlights.

However, Brundle and Coulthard seized the moment and turned what could have been an interminably boring couple of hours into a real pleasure what with their mixture of insight, banter and general enthusiasm.

Sadly, the fact that the race - once it resumed - was a real corker, meant their efforts were somewhat overlooked. However, the fact is that they did a splendid job under difficult circumstances as did Ted Kravitz and Lee McKenzie.

Whether they were reliving their own careers, tackling ornithology or likening Lewis Hamilton's move on Jenson Button to a bar of chocolate it was highly entertaining and good fun. Indeed, on the Pitpass forum one poster referred to the duo as "engaging", a view we wholeheartedly agree with.

Well done guys!
