Aimed at the serious aficionado, the Ferrari Opus is more than a book claims editor-in-chief Antonio Ghini. Instead it is part of the Ferrari culture, Ghini insists, containing rare or never before seen images and interviews with Ferrari legends.

In a three year project over 4 million images were examined, approximately 2000 making the grade and finding their way into the 850 page book. It includes information on every model Ferrari has ever produced, and details on every driver to have raced for the marque. Contributions from some of the leading journalists, as well as Piero Ferrari (son of Enzo) mean more than 50% of the book's content is new.

Three different varieties will be available, with the base level version priced at £2,000. The Enzo, which is the premier edition, comes with it's own carbon fibre case and designer pedestal specifically designed to house the 37kg, 50x50cm book. In total only 3,400 copies will be produced.

In order that the tifosi doesn't miss out however, much of the book's content has been released in a new mobile phone application, 'Ferrari Opus Lite.' Fans have also been encouraged to participate in the 'Journey to Maranello', where they will be able to upload pictures to a website. The photos will ultimately form a mosaic depicting Ferrari, with over one million images used to create the image - a new world record.

Another record will hopefully be set by the sale of copy number one which will be signed by all living Ferrari world champions before being sold at auction, Ferrari is confident the book will beat the mark set by the Manchester United Opus which sold for £1 million in 2009. Proceeds will be donated to a charity which has yet to be determined.
