Karun Chandhok - currently sidelined by the Hispania team in favour of Sakon Yamamoto - is to be the first F1 driver to lap the new Korean GP circuit.

The Indian revealed the news on his Twitter page, telling followers: "I'm off to Korea next week! Will be really nice to drive an F1 car again."

The Indian youngster, a former member of the Red Bull Junior Team is to drive one of the Austrian outfit's cars in a demonstration event next weekend, the team's regular drivers unable to take part.

"I was happy to fill in," Chandhok told the official F1 website. "It will be a real honour to be one of the first people to drive around the new Korean circuit. The layout looks quite good fun on paper and I look forward to driving a winning team's car there next weekend."
