Ferrari has confirmed that it will not appeal the fine it received for manipulating the result of today's German Grand Prix.

The Italian team was handed the $100,000 fine after race stewards at Hockenheim ruled that it had breached Article 39.1 of the FIA 2010 Sporting regulations and Article 151.c of the 2010 FIA International sporting code.

Speaking to reporters this evening however, team boss Stefano Domenicali revealed that his team would not appeal the fine.

"In the interests of the sport, we have decided not to go through a procedure of appealing against it," he said, "confident that the World Motor Sport Council will know how to evaluate the overall facts correctly."

While the Italian team might feel that this decision is in the "best interests of the sport", race fans and much of the media remain outraged at what is widely seen as blatant manipulation of the result.
