It's understood that former British F3 Champion Alvaro Parente has lost his role as test driver with Virgin Racing.
The Portuguese hot-shot was named as Virgin's test driver at its media launch in December along with Brazilian Luiz Razia.
However, following the collapse of a sponsorship deal with the Tourism Institute of Portugal, Parente has been left without funding and consequently the Virgin drive.
The 25-year-old, who has described the situation as "crazy", is now looking to put together a budget that will enable him to continue racing this season.
