Race Stewards in Melbourne are currently investigating the incident which saw Jarno Trulli pass Lewis Hamilton while the safety car was on track.

When the Safety Car first joined the field, following the Kubica/Vettel incident, Trulli was running ahead of the 2008 World Champion.

However, the Toyota driver spun off and rejoined the race, immediately re-taking the position from Hamilton, which, according to many within the paddock is not allowed.

Should Trulli receive a penalty it would promote Hamilton to third place in a race in which he started from the back of the field, just ahead of the Italian.
