Due to overnight storms, there was excessive flooding at the Dubai Autodrome early today ahead of the Sprint Race of the second round of the GP2 Asia Series.
Following a subsequent track inspection by the Race Directors, it was their collective view that the volume of water on the track, and the likelihood of there being any improvement during the day, would make it impossible to run any races safely. Consequently, the race has been cancelled.
The GP2 Series Organisation will decide on a later date how this cancellation will affect the championship.
