Bamber sets practice pace

On a windy track, rookie Earl Bamber topped the timesheets in free practice in Dubai today, finishing just one-thousandth of a second ahead of Dam's Kamui Kobayashi.

After snatching his first GP2 podium last October in China, in the opening round of the second season of the GP2 Asia Series, the impressive MY Qi-Meritus.Mahara driver demonstrates once again that he is a man to watch.

Behind the two pace-setters, Davide Valsecchi (Durango) confirms he improving form by finishing third ahead of DAMS d'Ambrosio and newcomer Pastor Maldonado at the wheel of the ART Grand Prix car. The Venezuelan's teammate, Sakon Yamamoto, followed ahead of another impressive rookie, Sergio Perez.

The new Ocean Racing Technology team seemed to adjust quickly to the GP2/07 car with Yelmer Buurman finishing 8th, just ahead of championship leader Roldan Rodriguez (Piquet GP). Vitaly Petrov, in the second Campos car, competed the top 10.
