According to reports, the planning application for the rebuilding of Donington Park - which is due to host the British Grand Prix from 2010 - is to be lodged within the next couple of weeks.

The news will surely end scepticism regarding the deal - announced at the start of this year's British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone - whereby some believe that the Donington move is part of some masterplan of Bernie Ecclestone's either to take control of Silverstone or to take away Britain's race entirely. Furthermore, there are many who doubt whether the requisite work could be carried out on time - especially when judges previous British projects. Also, there remain serious doubts as to how Donington will fund the rebuilding of the track and its facilities, despite the owners' claim that they have £100m available.
