Trident Racing has announced the signing of Mike Conway, who will be competing with the team in the 2008 GP2 Series. The British driver enters his second season of GP2 competition with the team owned by Maurizio Salvadori. Conway began his GP2 career last season, proving himself as one of the top rookies in the Series. Winning the British Formula 3 and Formula Renault UK titles has already singled him out as one of the most successful drivers from the British development series' and with his victory at the Macau Grand Prix in 2006 he has established himself as a leading British driver. In 2007 Honda Racing F1 team signed him to their Young Driver Development Programme.

Conway, will join Trident Racing for the first test of the new year which will feature the new-for-2008 GP2 car, to be held on February 28 and 29 at Paul Ricard circuit in France.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Team Principal, Trident Racing, says of Conway joining the team, "The arrival of Mike Conway represents a really special moment in the history of Trident Racing, and a starting point for the team's 2008 ambitions. He was definitely our first driver choice since the end of the season, and we did the best we could to secure his services. I have to thank Mike and his family, as well as Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell's 2MB Sports Management for making the deal possible. We know that next season will be vital for Mike's bid to build a successful future in Formula One. Trident Racing will do anything possible to provide Mike with the best technical material, and to help him in the best possible way. After the success he has already achieved on route to GP2, I'm sure he'll have the chance to repeat in his second season of racing in this series".

Mike Conway says, "It's great to have tied up my deal before Christmas and to be able to start the new year with all my plans in place, and to be joining Trident Racing for 2008. The team has a proven track record in GP2 and I believe we can be competing for podium finishes at every race weekend. Having completed my rookie season I have knowledge of all the tracks and the experience of racing at this level, which gives me the foundations to be competing at the front right from the start of the season.

"I believe Trident Racing will offer me the opportunities to achieve my goal of winning the 2008 GP2 Series. They have a high calibre team with the resources and experience to provide me with the infrastructure that I need to do the job on track. I'm looking forward to my first outing with the team in February, as well as getting to grips with the new GP2 car that we will be running there."

Trident Racing will announce Conway's team mate for the 2008 season in the near future.
