1996 World Champion, Damon Hill, now President of the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) remains confident that Lewis Hamilton will win the World Championship in his rookie season.
Hill, who watched the Chinese GP in the BRDC clubhouse at Silverstone, along with 100 British race fans, said: "My instant reaction to what happened today was disbelief, but Lewis bounced back instantly by saying that he is still fighting, he's still leading the Championship.
"His conduct as a sportsman is absolutely amazing," added Hill. "He's come in as a rookie and is out there beating the best drivers in the world. We really hope he wins the Championship as we want to put on a fantastic reception for him at next year's British Grand Prix at Silverstone."
Hill revealed that the BRDC will host another 'fan special' at Silverstone in two weeks for the season finale, though this will be at a more sociable hour.
