Despite being highly critical yesterday of Lewis Hamilton's actions behind the safety car in last weekend's Japanese GP, Mark Webber is keen to stress that he did not make an official complaint to the FIA regarding the Englishman's driving.

"I would just like to make it clear that, although I criticised Hamilton's driving in yesterday's FIA Press Conference, at no time have I made any official complaint about anyone's driving following Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix," said the Australian today.

Speaking yesterday, Webber said, in reference to Hamilton's actions: "I think he did a shit job behind the safety car. He did a shit job and that's it."

Meanwhile, there is confusion as to what exactly is happening regarding the stewards' investigation into Hamilton's driving. McLaren claims that it has yet to receive official notification regarding an investigation, though speaking today Ron Dennis admitted that the issue was first raised last week.

"At the Japanese Grand Prix, after Lewis had left the circuit, the stewards wished Lewis to see some of the footage related to the race," said the McLaren boss at Shanghai today. "We called him at the hotel and by the time we located him, the stewards advised him they didn't need to see him and we have thus far not received any formal communication from the stewards they wish to see him again."
