Ferrari's Felipe Massa, who is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his former teammate Michael Schumacher and win the World Championship, has already emulated one of the illustrious achievements in being awarded the Lorenzo Bandini Award.

The award, named in honour of the former F1 and SportsCar star who perished in the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix, will be presented to Massa at a special ceremony in Brisighella, Italy, Bandini's home town.

In his first full season with Ferrari, Massa won two races, including his home event at Interlagos, the first driver to do so since Ayrton Senna in 1993, and finished third in the Drivers' Championship.

In addition to Schumacher, previous winners include Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Juan Pablo Montoya.
