Organizers of the A1 GP event at Beijing are hopeful that the rest of the race weekend will continue, following modifications to the street circuit, which sees the reprofiling of the hairpin (Turn 8) which brought free practice to a standstill, resulting in the cancellation of both Friday sessions.

The long straight - essentially a dual carriageway - leading to the infamous hairpin has been shortened dramatically, with the 'new' Turn 8' is far less tight.

Saturday's free practice session will now run for ninety minutes (11:30 - 13:00), while qualifying will run as planned (14:15 - 15;30). However, the deadline for announcing teams' nominated drivers for qualifying has now been rescheduled for 13:30.
