Manufacturers given new deadline

NEWS STORY

Following today's meeting of the Formula One Commission in Paris, we understand that a new deadline has been given for agreement on the proposed engine freeze.

It would appear that neither side wishes to appear to be pushing too hard, while Max Mosley certainly doesn't want to appear as though he's giving in, and thereby losing face.

Following the numerous meetings at Indianapolis, which led to a new proposal, the Indianapolis Proposal, it appears that all the teams are virtually in agreement, though only one or two have signed.

The original deadline was June 30, and today's news appears to indicate that a mutually acceptable decision is close at hand.
