Midland deal to go through this weekend? (Updated)

NEWS STORY

Our spies tell us that the sale of the Midland team could go through this weekend.

Pitpass previously reported that team owner Alex Shnaider had received a "substantial offer" from a Dutch consortium, led by Lost Boys founder Michiel Mol, and that the size of the offer was so great the Russian-Canadian was giving it serious consideration, despite having previously declared that the team was not for sale.

Our spies in the Montreal paddock tell us that Shnaider is attending this weekend's race and that the deal should be completed before the Silverstone outfit packs up and heads off to Indianapolis.

When the deal goes through, the new team is almost certain to opt for Cosworth powerplants.

Update: We now hear that there will not be an announcement in Montreal, with an announcement at Indianapolis also unlikely.

The spies have been shot!
