Further to our previous report, representatives of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca have contacted Pitpass to clarify a number of points relating to this weekend's A1 GP event at the California track.

"The SCCA read the reports this past Sunday on various websites, including Pitpass, that the A1 Grand Prix of Nations at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca had been canceled," said a spokesperson. "Although the race continued to proceed as scheduled, the San Francisco Region of the SCCA notified their Miata series drivers and officials that the race had been cancelled and announced it formally at an event at Thunderhill Raceway.

"By the time the SCCA had received the news that the event would proceed as planned, it was too difficult to place the Miata series event back on the schedule and the SCCA elected to concentrate on re-booking of safety workers."

Referring to the question of who is promoting this weekend's event, the spokesman said: "Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the host track for this event, A1Grand Prix is the event promoter.

"A1 Grand Prix bears the responsibility for securing any safety and logistical items that must be sourced from outside agencies," he added.
