Ferrari test driver, Marc Gene, was the quickest of five drivers on an artificially dampened track at Jerez.

The Italian team was joined by fellow Bridgestone runners, WilliamsF1, Toyota and Midland.

The Spaniard, at the wheel of an F2004 M, worked on the development of Bridgestone wet weather tyres, however, clutch problems caused him to lose much track-time throughout the day.

Toyota and WilliamsF1 had one driver apiece, with Ricardo zonta in the Japanese car, and Nico Rosberg in the British.

MF1 was represented by Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro, the Portuguese driver outpacing the Dutchman by a second, yet almost 2s off Rosberg's time.

The teams now take a one day break before resuming here on Tuesday.
