With less than three months to go before 25 national cars take to the Brands Hatch grid for the first race in the World Cup of Motorsport's inaugural season, the A1 Grand Prix engines and chassis have begun rolling off the production line and into the hands of the A1 Grand Prix Teams.

In a closed ballot held at A1 Grand Prix's London office last week, teams representing Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, India, Lebanon, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Portugal, South Africa and an important yet- to-be-announced European-based country, were each allocated a separate chassis and engine forming one of their two A1 race cars. In the presence of A1's Global Operations Manager John Wickham, A1's in-house Legal Counsel Bene Mercer and witnessed by an independent Notary Public, the ballot was conducted by A1 Grand Prix Founder, President and Chairman Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum.

To maintain A1 Grand Prix's unique level playing field, all the team's chassis and engines will be stored at the A1 Technical Innovation Centre at Silverstone Circuit in the UK. From Monday 4 July, the 12 pre-selected teams who have each been allocated their first A1 race car will be given access to the Centre to start preparations for the first race.
