On the first day of testing at the Circuito de Jerez, WilliamsF1's Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia were the only drivers on duty.

The penultimate test of the 2004 season got underway in almost ideal conditions with temperatures reaching 17 degrees C. Although cloudy in the morning, there was sunshine in the afternoon, albeit following a light rain shower.

Both drivers worked on set-ups, adjusting to the track that will be their 'home' for the next two weeks. They carried out a number of long runs as they evaluated tyres, in addition to putting serious mileage on their BMW engines.

Testing continues tomorrow with Nick Heidfeld making his test debut with the team.
