Alex Shnaider, the man behind the Midland F1 Team, which is due to enter F1 in 2006, has expressed an interest in obtaining an engine supply from world champions Ferrari.

"It would be good to have a Ferrari engine in the Midland cars," he told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport.

2006 is when the FIA is scheduled to introduce its proposed 2.4 litre V8 engine format.

On the subject of drivers, Shnaider wasn't quite as forthcoming: "We'll start with two experienced drivers," said. "Plus a Russian one for the tests.

"There are two or three Eastern drivers who show a lot of promise," he added.
