New Zealander Scott Dixon, who has had two recent tests with the WilliamsF1 team, has injured his ankle in a high-speed crash during practice for the Indy Japan 300.

Initial reports suggest that there have been a number of incidents, all of them blamed on the dusty track surface at Montegi.

Following his crash, Dixon was taken to Dokkyo University Hospital, where it was revealed that the Kiwi had suffered a hairline fracture on the top fibula of his left ankle. It's not known if he will play any further part in this weekend's proceedings.

Following the tests with WilliamnsF1, it's speculated that the 2003 IRL Champion, could replace either Juan Pablo Montoya or possibly Ralf Schumacher, in 2005.
