Hi MarkLara, and welcome to Pitpass. Hope you enjoy the forum. I'm sure everyone here will agree that we have the best content. Very Happy

Hope you don't mind, but I'm moving this to the Community forum where people usually introduce themselves.

Happy posting!

Also a newbie here, just today found out that this is where most of the original PF1(if not all) writers appear to be.

So thought I would sign up to your forums and hopefully find some reasoned F1 threads, PF1s forums are so bad or ~I should say the majority of posters on them are so bad they just want to dump on drivers they don't support.

Anyways hello to all

For the record, I was appointed editor at PF1 in August 1999 and over the next two years assembled the entire writing team that made the site special at that time.

In September 2001 - a historic month for so many other reasons - as a result of the fact that PF1's parent company had got into financial difficulty, all the writers - Mike Lawrence, Eoin Young, the ACHQ, Bob Constanduros - were dumped. In December 2001 the company that owned PF! merged with another company and I was made redundant along with Martha my assistant editor. None of the old team remained.

In March 2002, I began pitpass using the same writers that had made PF1 a respected and well read site - at that time.

Welcome to pitpass

Welcome dryjoing and MarkLara

I also hate it too when forum member takes great joy out of bashing a driver than supporting their favourite driver

Hi MarkLara and dryjoint, I'm sure that you will find Pitpass much more rewarding than P-F1.

I looked into the P-F1 forum last night and it was absolute anarchy.

ChrisB, your short history was very interesting - something I was vaguely aware of from various posts.

Is it not possible to put a history of the site somewhere where newcomers can find it - a sticky or a feature, as it is nice to know.

If you have done this, my apologies and can you point me in the right direction. Smile

On the front page of the site you'll find an 'about' pitpass link.

I stopped visiting PF1 when they started to put those silly ads that would take the whole window. It was annoying. I stopped visiting ITV and F1racing for the very same reason.

In the old days PF1 had a nice feature. Head to Head I think was the name. You would choose two drivers and it would give you their stats. That was very cool. I don't know if they still have that. The other good thing about it was Mike Lawrence's work, I rembember "cheats can prosper", there is one on this site called Cheats but the original version had more info about Schumi's 94 cheating campaign.

Thanks ChrisB. I had read that before but was thinking more along the lines of your earlier post.
