I've never really taken to Hockenheim, and have always associated the German GP with the Nurburgring, which I think is a much better GP circuit. Beyond the long 'straight', Hockenheim just becomes a bit too fiddly and a bit too narrow.
Hopefully the Nordschleife will remain as something of a haven to petrolheads though. But I can see all the main German manufacturers pooling together and buying it, seeing as they all do extensive testing on there, and then making it a private test facility. |

From what I'm hearing the problems are more with the ventures away from racing rather than the circuit itself.
The drivers don't want the Nordschleife to go, and Norbert Haug just mentioned how successful it was as a track day venue... It's very early days still. |

The Nuerburgring will survive as a racetrack and probably also as an F1
venue. The problem is this dreadful new theme park at the Ring. This park
is financially a disaster. All the other motorsport events are a success except
F1 where the Ecclestone fee kills all the profits.
Hockenheim is in trouble ever since they invested hundreds of millions
in updating their facility. Both Rings can't afford F1 every year, so both crippels need each other to carry on. _________________ another kraut in kanada |

I love the old circuit, even if it was not much fun to watch there live, but the GP-Strecke? I rather approve of the unofficial name of Ersatzring.
I have only been to Hockenheim once, a long time ago and watched from the Mickey Mouse stadium section.
Sorry but I won't miss the passing of either or both of them, especially if the Nordschliefe remains as a toll road.
now if we could have the Osterreichring back, please? _________________ Yes, I Know that I'm a BOF. Someone please tell me why I still watch. |

If it was a choice of one of the other then drop Hockenheim for sure and keep the Nurburgring. (Before they ruined Hockenheim I'd have said the other way around) _________________ Si hoc adfixum in obicle legere potes, et liberaliter educatus et nimis propinquus ades. |
