All of us in the UK finally get to see a race live; maybe this will locally stir up the usual interest in the sport.

However, the TV is full of the Titanic (how we like a good disaster), the worries about security in Bahrain and, post Boat Race, at the Jubilee and the Olympics, perhaps the harm done is irreparable.

Let's hope we have a good race weekend.

Schumacher lead the 2nd session, ...
is it another McLaren sandbagging system? or qualifying sees MS and Rosberg fly?

EDIT; I just mean I'm tired of Bahrain bargain. let's stick to Chinese GP.

I am in the departure lounge of Shanghai International writing this on my iPad the Friday before the GP. Just too busy to stay the weekend unfortunately, although having attended the inaugural Chinese GP I don't really feel the need to sit trackside again.

It's nice to be heading home from China after a few weeks to watch the GP in the comfort of my own home.

Yay Schumi! Yay Button! Yay Webber!

End of trip #15 to Shanghai.

Vettel in 11th! Out at Q2, only 2/10th of a second between 1st and tenth! The Saubers in 4 and 5th, Man, this is awesome, haven't seen a brilliant topsy turvy quali like this in ages!

Very interesting watching the tyre strategies play out in Q2 with so little between the top teams and midfield. Should make for a fascinating race tomorrow !

Q3 was particularly odd for those of us north of the border, only available on HD and transmission failed and cut to watching grass growing immediately after the end of the session.

So I can only assume that McL missed a trick sending Jenson out right at the end of the session, but it looks like an interesting start to the race. Any money on Schummi taking Nico out at the first corner, or Kamui barrelling past both?

BBC2 Scotland did have uninterrupted coverage of the Melrose Sevens at the same time. Nice to know BBCS have their priorities straight.

Today's qualy has finally got my hopes high! Great to see 6 different teams in Q3. We'll see how long the mecs can hold off the macs.

Seems that Seb isn't so much the wiz kid when he doesn't have a car 2-3 10ths faster than the rest. Yipeee-da-yeeeeahh!
