I was watching the 1990 season review, and when they showed the podium presentations, I realised in some of the races, they presented the winner with two trophies. At first I thought it was the constructors and drivers trophy, but then I saw Ron Dennis receiving a trophy. Anyone know why the winning driver received two trophies, it's got me stumped Confused

thanks.

Interesting. I'm not entirely sure, but I know that some teams have contractual rights over their drivers' silverware as well as their constructors award. For example in the Jordan factory you can see all the trophies Ralf got with the team in 1997/1998 and DH's Spa trophy.

Perhaps this was so the driver actually got to keep something? But I'm not sure. Just a suggestion.

yeah, that's what I thought. Or it may be something along the lines of something similar to the tennis grand slams, where they are presented with a trophy for show for the press, but are given a replica to keep. However, they don't do this now and the trophies were pretty different, especially the San Marino ones, with that huge gold trophy from the late 80's and early 90's.

it was in the 80's and very early 90's. It stopped in the mid 90's I think.
